The Way I See It...

I lost my hard drive....(and my motivation) to warrant reconstruction of the missing game reviews....NEXT YEAR..

Bills  23 - Dollfans  24

"You know you are in trouble when": your aggressive hard hitting defense, that has been stopping everything and harassing the QB, finally knocking him out of the game, is now given instructions to sit back and let a clipboard holding 3rd string QB, that embarrassed himself in his last outing, have all day to execute his offense. He must have scared Jerry Grey to death, or at least BRAIN DEAD!  Then in his eternal wisdom the head coach, with a 21 point lead, decides to use the rest of the game to try out some of those new plays they've been working on in practice. Great Idea.  And while the play selection and the pace of the first quarter  were very well executed, the balance of the game was one blunder after another.  Willis still being taken out on 3rd downs, Moulds not on the field, inability to make first downs because of laughable play calling.  The Fins were run blitzing the whole second half, so I guess calling an inside draw on 3 and 9 wasn't such a good idea, especially when all you need to do is make a first down and run the clock out.  This Coach and his philosophy need a lot of work.....go work it out some where else.  Like his predecessor  Greg Williams, just because you are an outstanding coordinator it doesn't mean you are a head coach. that being said I guess the guy that hired both of them should be held accountable also, Goodbye Mr. Donahoe.

Bills  9 - Panthers  13

This was worse than I thought it would be, I didn't think we would be shutdown offensively by this team, but dropped passes, penalties, fumbles and O-line breakdowns did them in.  The bright side is JP performed much better and except for a couple of mental errors, he played a pretty good game. Sound familiar (see last week).  The defense was better than last week but, not good enough.   It won't get any easier next week.

Bills  10 - Chargers  48

This was worse than I thought it would be, I didn't think we would be shutdown offensively by this team, but dropped passes, penalties, fumbles and O-line breakdowns did them in.  The bright side is JP performed much better and except for a couple of mental errors, he played a pretty good game. The defense was worn out, mostly their own fault, but SD couldn't do anything wrong, they had the ball 37 1/2 minutes.  It won't get any easier next week.

Bills  14 - Chefs  3

Yes, the C H E F S  and they couldn't cook up 1 TD !  Dante was in an inferno, Green was in a "Black Hole",  Holcomb was in lala land and "the Kid" did  what he had to do....he was paying attention these last few weeks.  The passes were on the mark, they had air under them when needed and the blitz didn't seem to rattle him at all !  Damm that was fun.  The only down side was giving up more than 100 yards to a runner, again, when will it stop? But 6 Sacks ! 3 interceptions ...did I say this was fun?  Hey I know this isn't a "playfoff" team, but what's wrong with enjoying a win? !!!

Bills  16 - Patsies  21

They almost did it, they almost played an entire game.  If games were played on paper, this would have been a win.  The game plan was sound, the execution was good, except for a few key mistakes another fumble and an interception.  At 3 - 5 the focus should now be on the future, start the kid.  It won't be pretty but, it will give him the game speed and experience reading defenses.  It's clear to me that the season is over, playoff wise, we shouldn't make it a complete loss.

Bills 17 - Raiders 38

See: New Orleans game......ditto.

Bills 27 - Jets 17

Today it was a simple case where the Bills believed they could just "Willis to win", they were right 143 yds!!! Holcomb had another adequate day(2 int's) "just managing the game".  Too Many penalties....but, we are in 1st place with the Patsies. But are we?  We'll find out in two weeks. We are getting confidence on offense which is good, but the defense is showing signs of weakness in the run game.  We have to plug the holes.

Bills 20 - Fins 14

No matter how many times it happens, it always puts smile on my face...beating the fins. That said, we are still not a very good team. the switch to Kelly Holcomb is a decision I believe we will regret in the future.  The future is JP and unless he gets game time, he won't get better.

Bills 7 - Saints 19

Q: One Bills drive?
A: The Buffalo Bills address in Orchard Park NY and exactly what this team did right in this game.  What a waste of a very winnable game.

Bills 16  -  Falcons  24

Ok this is going to take a while....we have a problem.  We have a team that is struggling to find it's identity. We have a defense that is having trouble how to attack offenses, so we are giving up big chunks of ground yards.  We have an offense that is having a hard time running the ball, throwing the ball, scoring touchdowns and is based on a philosophy which is coddling a new quarterback.  Uncle Ralph is going to be complaining about the offense very soon now.  On the subject of JP, he has yet to complete a pass to the sidelines, he is still struggling on the timing of the long balls and finding a receiver over the middle without throwing to or around the linebackers.  Other than that he's doing just fine.  Coach just let the kid go, let him play his game, let him make mistakes, let him get confused, let him call his own plays if that works. He looks like a guy trying to learn how to play with one had tied behind his back.

Bills 3 - Bucs 19

This was one of the ugliest games I have seen in a long time. I knew that the Bucs would be gunning for JP and that was the smart thing to do, "rookie", first road game and only his 2nd start. But the surprise was the Defense being pushed around, allowing a rookie running back to run for over 100 yards. Jerry Grey is partly the blame for this, he played right into the hands of the Bucs, at times all three linebackers were at the line of scrimmage, trying to shore up the D-line, this backfired as the rookie would break through the congestion and then there was no one home to stop him until he made substantial gains. Jerry what were you thinking?  Next week the pressure will be on to contain Vick, let's hope they put a little more thought into that. Practicing against JP is a pretty good simulation, hopefully this will be enough.

Bills 22 - Texans 7(*)

They refs are at it again! They were able to give the Texans a touchdown, by failing to see David Carr step out of bounds before sticking the ball out for the endzone. I could see it from my seat in the upper deck, but even that was not enough to put a damper on my day.  The Bills were able to do almost everything they wanted to, I'm sure they would have a liked a few more TD's instead of FG's but they didn't fail to put points on the board when they got into scoring range. The Texans were a good opponent for the starting debut of JP, this was just enough team to challenge him and also help him build his confidence for the future.  He managed the game very well.  The defense also helped out by giving him plenty of opportunities to run the offense, with 3 int's and 2 fumble recoveries, keeping the Texans off the field. Limiting them to 21 mins on offense and only 125 net yards.
